Fresdevalfilms

FRESDEVAL FILMS is a company engaged in producing fictional cinematographic films and documentaries that are projects of high artistic quality, based on an original view of topics of social, human and cultural interest. Since it was founded in 2000, FRESDEVAL FILMS has carved out its own unique niche within the Spanish film industry, positioned as a young production company made up of filmmakers with new ideas, solid training, and proven experience and talent.

Jaime Rosales

Director and Scriptwriter

Barcelona, 1970

Graduated in Business Sciences from ESADE, the decisive boost to his cinematographic training came with a scholarship awarded in 1996 to study at the prestigious International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV), in Havana and then at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in Sydney. Since 2000, with his production company Fresdeval Films, he has developed all of his projects as a director. His films talk about the inability to communicate, the complexity of the family universe and the unexpected emergence of violence in everyday life. A tireless explorer of the possibilities that audiovisual format can offer, Jaime Rosales’ films reflect the director’s great interest in finding new expressive forms far distanced from the usual conventions of cinematographic language.

He has given courses, talks and conferences at a large number of universities, film schools and art centers. His collaborations and participations include: Prado Museum, Caixa Forum, Picasso Foundation of Málaga, Reina Sofía Museum, Georges Pompidou Center, Artium Vitoria Museum, CCCB of Barcelona, Complutense University of Madrid, Carlos III University, University of Barcelona, Pompeu Fabra University, ECAM, EICTV, ESADE, New York University, Université de Lyon, IBAFF.

In March 2014, the Center Georges Pompidou held a retrospective of all of his work. He is a Knight of the Order of French Arts and Letters and National Culture Prize of the Generalitat of Catalonia (2015). In 2018 he published El lápiz y la cámara (“The Pencil and the Camera”), a book that reflects on cinema and artistic creation.

Bárbara Díez

Producer, Executive Producer and Line Producer

Maracaibo (Venezuela), 1981

Born in Venezuela she moved to Madrid (Spain) at an early age, where she took a Graduate Course of Audiovisuals and a Postgraduate Course in Film Production in the film school TAI in Madrid. In 2004 she was granted a scholarship to study Film Production at the International Film and Television School in San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV) in Cuba. As her graduation thesis in the school she produced the short film “El Espino”, directed by Théo Court, nominated to Best Short-feature film by the Cinefoundation of the Cannes Festival 2005. Before and after her studies in Cuba, she worked as assistant of postproduction, materials and festivals in MORENA FILMS, an important Spanish production company, participating in several documentaries and feature films. In October of 2005, she starts a new professional challenge entering to the staff of the production film company FRESDEVAL FILMS, first as production coordinator. A few years after she becomes Line Producer for all of Fresdeval’s productions, as well as for other production companies. In 2013 she becomes Executive Producer and in 2015 shareholder of the company.

After participating more creatively in Petra (2018), working closely with the scriptwriters, Bárbara decides to take the step into writing with the project Girasoles silvestres (Wild Flowers), led by Jaime Rosales. It thus becomes his first job as a scriptwriter.
